What Is the Right Amount of Water to Drink Everyday?

December 26, 2021

How much water to drink a day is a question that has been asked by millions of people all over the world. The general rule for normal people is to take 2 liters or 8 glasses of water daily. However, this does not take into account the weight of the person taking it in nor their overall health condition. For those who have just started drinking water or have medical conditions, they should consult with their doctor about how much water to drink a day.

The body takes a lot of time and effort to eliminate waste materials from everyday activities, such as going through food intake and exercise. There are times when our kidneys cannot completely filter out wastes from our blood stream because we have taken too much water or have taken in too much sodium. In this case, the blood becomes diluted and our kidneys cannot filter out all the wastes from this blood.

There are a number of factors that affect how much water to drink a day, such as our body weight. The more we weigh, the more water is needed for us to stay hydrated throughout the day and especially when we exercise and go through physical activities. Younger people usually take in 8 glasses of water or 2 liters everyday while older people should take lesser than younger adults because they tend to urinate less frequently than their age counterparts.

Even though we need to take in at least 8 glasses of water a day, it does not mean that we need to drink all that amount at once. We can space it out by drinking a few glasses of water at a time. It will be better for us if we drink a glass or two on an empty stomach rather than right after a meal because this will also help us digest our food more effectively.
